Set in the imaginary Goan hamlet of Ginolem, Priya’s reimagination of Hogarth’s Gin Lane finds itself in a lush and bountiful landscape. This little town invites you to embark on a journey filled with revelry, chance encounters, intimate conversations and innumerable possibilities; all the things we have missed so dearly in the last two years.Details that are reminiscent, yet in total contrast to the original Gin Lane, fill nooks and corners of Ginolem. Streets find themselves populated with the young, and the young at heart. There is life to be seen and felt all around.
The idea was to evoke a sense of sophisticated yet friendly intimacy that a young brand like ‘Greater Than’ represents. Gin Lane in Ginolem is imagined as a place of leisure and giddy pleasure. A place of all the Gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world - come, let’s stroll into one together in magical Ginolem.
Priya Kuriyan is a children’s book writer-illustrator, comic book maker and chronic doodler. She has directed educational films for the Sesame Street show (India) and the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) and has illustrated numerous children’s books for various publishers. She lives and works in the city of Bangalore and in her spare time, she makes funny caricatures of its residents.
